On June 25, 2018, CIG hosted an installation training program where we have invited an expert technician from Kingspan Insulated Panels—a world class manufacturer of insulated panels—to give us a comprehensive lecture and first hand experience of panel installation. All in all, the participants will become a certified installer for the products of Kingspan Insulated Panels.
The full day training began in the morning of June 25th with an introduction to different types of panels by Mr. Nicholas Brown, the technical director of Kingspan Australasia and Southeast Asia–translated by Ms. Ananya Sojuthamanee, Product Development Manager of Kingspan Thailand and Dr. Wutthikorn Threevittayanon, CIG’s Engineering and Innovation Consultant.
As we investigated further into the specification and capabilities of the panels, the long-perceived complex nature of construction process seemed to have evolved and have been simplified into a process that not only is much easier and faster than the traditional, but also is a method that lifts the weights and requirements greatly off of the installation crews.
Training would not be complete without ‘practice installation’ with the real panels. With that in mind, CIG and Kingspan has the panels, structure, and equipment prepared especially for the afternoon session.
The purpose of the afternoon session was to have the participants experience installing the panels with their own hands. We started the Architectural Wall Panels with special sealing technique to prevent any possible leak through the edges of the panels. Then we followed the instructions closely with Mr. Brown’s supervision. The participants took turn to install the panels. It was a slow process, but with Mr. Brown’s advices and detailed explanation, the installation went continuously smooth.
Following that we installed the roof panels. Due to the fact that the roofs will have to be installed on top of each other, there were quite a few trials. Gradually, we finished our afternoon practical session with two beautifully installed panels: AWP and RW.
After both the theory session and the practical session, Mr. Brown led the participants into a friendly Q&A session before we came to the end of our full day installation training.
